Please help. My Jack Dempsey is very ill, He has not been eating very much, if anything at all, and he is usually floating vertically in the tank, with his head facing the bottom.

It looks like an ulcer and may be about 1/4 inch deep. He does not move his tail and has problems swimming. Eyes are a little cloudy. I checked water and everything is normal, except Nitrates were a little higher than normal.

The Jack Dempsey is about 7 or 8 years old. He did have a fungus that was growing on the ulcer. That was treated and is now gone.

StressZyme was also added to the tank after a 30% water change yesterday.

We have been treating him for three weeks at least. Three fish died prior to this sore appearing. Two were plecos that were quite old and the third was a Sevrum. It appeared that the three died of a fungal infection. These three fish were also the oldest.

We have a 65 gallon tank that is home to other fish, which appear to be doing fine.

A picture of the sore is available at the link below, not the best picture, but the best we could get.
