ive been tossing ideas of what to do with my 30 gallon tank on here but im wondering if i should try iwagumi in the 30 gallon......ive usually seen iwagumi in much smaller tanks and wonder what the overall effect would be to do so in a 30 gallon ......like the logisitcs of how many plants, rock, soil ....or what rock or plants

What are the dimensions of the tank? I think its quite doable and setup would be like the base rock work for a marine/cichlid setup except with plants added of course. To get a good focal point some quite large rocks may be needed.

Im no expert with iwagumi though but this sounds doable and interesting.

Your tank size is fine, ive seen loads in tanks around 120 litres. There is a thread in parc here

There's loads of options in a tank that size, Iwagumi can be in any tank size...

have a read of this http://www.aquajournal.net/na/iwagumi/introduction.html

Iwagumi isn't as easy as you'd think though. Getting the composition of the rocks is not easy...it's good to have a play around with the rocks first.

You then have the plant selection to deal with and whether or not you'll be going 'high tec' or 'low ish tec'.

well at this time i have to full "high tech" plant tanks a 30 and 10. Both have Co2 and i made sure there was at least 2 watts per gallon.

Im 16 and love this hobby ...my mother becasue ya know ...16 ...take it easy on me :shout: says i should at least try what i want to achieve in the 30 in the smaller 10 sinces theres less space to deal with.

My main questions are ......how much is the ADA amazonia, my tank for my 30 is L: 36 D:12.5, where is a good place to get rock and finalllllllyyyyyyyyyy the plant choices since LFS dont usually care those High tec plants

So your tank is 32cm x 92cm x depth of substrate you want.

If you want around 10cm average so you can sculpt it around the rocks then 32x92x10=29.440 so roughly 30litres as most substrates are measured in litre bags.

Great place for rock here http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/aquascaping-decor-aquascaping-rocks-c-545_11_239.html

Plants can be found at java plants, the green machine, aqua essentials, planted tank, aquarium gardening. There's loads mate, hope this helps.

Your mother is thinking about it logically however in practice it is easier to work with a large tank than a small one. It is very hard to get perspectives right and layouts right when you go smaller.
