I've got babies !!

Was beginning to wonder why I hadn't seen my male BN Plec for a while, so I thought I'd have a route around for him, and in the process add some breeding tubes to the tank..... (pics late)

Anyway, I've got a big rock at the back of my tank that I've seen him under a couple of times, so I thought I'd see if he was under there......

Upon lifting up the rock, there I find the male BN with about a dozen or more fry !!!!

They're about 5-6mm long at the mo, so hopefully he'll be letting them out into the tank soon....

Can't beleive it !! They pair have onily been in the tank about 17 days, and they've already layed, hatched and reared the fry !!!

Did you do anything in particular to help them allong, or did you just let nature take it's course? The only reason I ask is because I've got a male and female bn in a tank too. They've been in together for about a month and I havent seen anything yet

Didn't do a thing !!!

Put them in the tank about 17 days ago, like I said, and have just left them to it !!

Just fed them a nice slice of cucumber every couple of days, and they 'got-it-on' so to speak !!

I was going to put the tubes in there, to give them somewhere secure to lay their eggs without them being eaten by the other fish. But it looks like they've found a good enough spot underneath a rock at the back of my tank. The male BN has actually dug most of the gravel out from under the rock, and made himself a 'tunnel' !!

Will keep you posted how the fry are getting along !!

Its down hill from here
every 4-5 weeks!

Make sure you keep on top of the water changes... even though they are small there will be a lot of them pooping a lot of poop

how long til they're big enough to take to the LFS ?!?!

one said he'll give me £1.20 ea. and another said he'd take them off my hands but couldn't give me anything for them !! Guess where I'll be taking them !!


Have just had a good look, and I can see at least 2 fry hiding under a rock !!!

Fingers crossed the others will be out soon !!!

P.S. 1.25 a fish is a good price - we have 2 shops round here that'll give us 50p each.

tell you what... you can buy ours off us for say 90p each and then sell them on again for 1.25
