So,after years of pouring buckets of water in2 my old tanks, and getting fed up with the gravel getting displaced no matter how slow i tried 2 pour the water in,i had to come up with a new way of getting the water in2 my new tank, which is a real pain in the bum,as the total height of the tank, and cabinet is a little over 4ft,i have quite a bad back(had 3 discs removed last year),and i've been doing a fish in cycle,so been having 2 do a lot of water changes, which has been wrecking the gravel, and my pair of oscars were none 2 pleased, not only had they been moved, but now every day having the best part of 150/200 litres of water dropped in2 their new home (350ish litre tank),the new setup has been placed in a different spot the in the front room, quite near the rear patio doors,so the draining of the tank was no proplem, get the syphon going, nice long pipe, out the back doors, job done, but the process of getting the water back in was just getting 2 much, walking bucket after bucket from the kitchen to the frontroom, then lifting it up and pouring it in the tank, then the other day had a light bulb moment(bear with,i know im waffling on a bit lol),with the new tank(second hand) came a few odds and bobs, one of which was a 1400lph power head,so down 2 B&Q's(other D.I.Y shops are available  )bought a sheet of marine ply, four castors,a cheap black plastic dustbin, and a couple of bungie hook/cord type things, got home, cut the sheet of ply up,slightly bigger than the bin, fixed the 4 castors to the ply, placed the bin on top,and secured it with the bungie hooks, now i had a portable water carrier(it does help that i have wooden floors throughout the downstairs of the house),so with this all knocked up,wheeled it in2 the kitchen, filled the buckets up at the sink, tipped then in2 the bin till it was bout 3/4 full, then pushed it back in2 the front room, attached the hose from my syphon to the power head, dropped the power head in2 the bin, turned it on,and bobs your aunites brother  then as the water level in the bin started 2 fall just topped up with a bucket every now and then, now it took a while 2 refill the tank this way,but no messed up gravel, and more important,no stressed oscars!!!!!! you will next be seeing me on dragons den :hyper:

Why not do it the really easy way? Connect a plastic hose to the faucet and run it into the tank. When the tank is full shut off the faucet. If you do that, just add some of the dechlorinator at the beginning and some near the end of the fill. When adding water directly to a tank, you use enough dechlorinator for the whole tank.

Definatley what Oldman47 says I done it the hard way for 2 years then got wise and done it the easy way more time to watch your fish in lovely clean water :good:
