So a few minutes after I added my plants my little brother says: "Hey Josh! Im going to do my own tank as well" So I asked: "Well, where are you going to put it?" (I took up literally the only aquarium space my mom will allow lol) But it sounds like my mom may allow to put it somewhere... (Dont worry my mom is making sure my brother does research. My mom doesn't allow us to randomly get animals). So I told my brother that he could do a jarrarium with a few shrimps and he seemed excited but he REALLY wants a betta... So, I told him he could do a 5g if he wants a betta (He has been very accepting with everything)... So yup the tank syndrome has spread now... I told him that once my red root floaters come and start growing I'll give him some for when he gets his tank... He has been super excited about it all! And I also wanted to ask... What shrimp and snails would do well with a betta (He really wants both) but he will understand if not.

Shrimps and bettas are hit and miss. I've had a betta which ignored adult and baby cherry shrimps, a betta which ignored adults but ate babies and a betta which hunted and killed adult cherry shrimps. But you don't know what the betta is like till you try him with shrimps. Amano shrimps and ghost/glass shrimps (different names, same shrimp) are bigger and may cope better than cherries. If you do try shrimps, prepare your brother that they may get eaten.

Snails again can be a problem depending on the species. Mystery snails have long antennae which bettas can mistake for worms and bite them. Nerites have tiny hair like antennae and I've never had a problem with nerites in with a betta.

[With one betta, I moved some floating plants into his tank from my main tank, and there must have been rice fish eggs on the plants because I ended up with 4 rice fish fry in the betta's tank. He just ignored them, almost as if he couldn't see them. So I tried the cherry shrimps with him and their numbers increased. When that betta died, I got another, but the population of shrimps stabilised and I no longer found baby shrimps in the bucket of old water when I did a water change. Fast forward to the next betta, the one that killed shrimps, so I quickly rescued the survivors and returned them to the main tank.]

OMG you're facing the family strain of MTS
Like for the normal strain there is no therapy or cure

Think there should be a good familydiscussion about sacrificing one of the rooms to make it a fishroom. Only that can solve some of worst symptoms a bit.

Succes

We do have a spare bedroom 😏

Naw - my older brother never wanted his own aquarium; instead he fed my guppies toothpaste in the morning.
I respect people who dont want aquariums but not people who put animals in danger!!! Please tell me your parents did something about that...
