I had just discovered that my red wagtail has gone from porky and pregnant, to skinny and sulky in amongst the plants. No babies, and I'm not happy. So I decided to give the tank a once over. Filter off and unhooked, I walked to the kitchen sink. Buckets at the ready, I lifted the baskets out, and found FOURTEEN babies at the bottom! I'm well happy now.... :D They had obviously been sucked up the intake, and were safe, warm and happy in the canister!! But there were guppys, barbs and mollies amongst them too  Anyone ever had the same happen to them? Or were yours found in an equally ridiculous place?

I did a fish count one day and found 3 (not 4) jewel cichlids. I went looking through the tank, dug in the gravel, looked in the filter, thinking it had been chewed up and sucked in, and looked around my tank. I found the fish IN ANOTHER ROOM! It was dead, but it had jumped out of the tank and flopped about 15 feet into the living room.

When i removed my ugf,i put all my fish ,plants and bit and bobs in a spare tank, the pulled the filter bed out. The water that was left was black as the ace of spades, so i syphoned it out added more clean water then used that to clean up the gravel. Several buckets later the wife said "i thought you had 2 loaches" EEEEEK looked every where but nothing ,sifted the gravel ,nothing checked the flower pots(thats where smeggy water goes),nothing,so thought must have chucked him out with the water somewhere. :(
this morning i go to feed my fish and have two loaches waiting as usual for their breakfast.
so now im wondering where fish go on holidays :p

I used to have 8 neon tetras and everyday one would go missing, I always think that it was my angel that ate them but when every single one was gone i decided to check my filter and their all inside and died :(
