Well today i added 3 schwartz cories to my 72 gallon which bringsme to 12 cories. I added the three to make the others come out of hiding but they are not shoaling with them. they just remain hidden while the others remain in the open. :/ -sigh-

Be patient. Cories take a significant amount of time first of all to get used to one another, and secondly to settle.

If they are all the same species they will shoal, it will just take time.

mm.. but I still want to know why my cories don't come out in the open during the day anymore.. and why they are so scared of me they will go nuts if I see them in the open.

I decided to remove all their hidding places and force them inot the open.. now they move about again and school.. how odd.

erm.... thats soounds like a BAD idea...

have you try dither fish, such as neon tetra or such like?

As when the cories she these fish all out and about happy they see the coast as being clear to come out. My 3 Trillneatus were very shy and hide during the day, but were very active at night. I've just added another two for a breeding program, havent had to chance to monitor their antics yet though.

GL with the Cories

there is still hidding spots.. the various huge plants and such.. infact they are wquite happy hidding in the thick Water wisteria and such Cabomba "bushs" it is jsut now there is open space in the tank floor and they are see each other and follow each other around the tank. before I think what was happening was.. each rock area only had room for 1 or two cories and thus none saw each other and did not shoal as they where "alone" now that they can see each other they all shoal and come out for food and seem rather happy. and if they getr scared they run to the plants. just like it was before I added the rocks.
