well while litres are the same all over the world being a scientific measurement, it seems that certain measurements mean different things from one place to another. while trying to work out where i had gone wrong about an online tank calculators answer being different from my own it dawned on me that people say
e.g. 25 gal us or 55 gal uk
Measurements i just thaught i should point it out as i had never been told anything about this (i dont as a rule use feet inches gallons e.t.c.) i presume that someone out there might be as slow as i am.


UK gal 1 gal = 4 qt = 4,54609 dm3
US gal 1 gal = 4 liq qt = 3,78541 dm3

i would say he lost the argument Graeme however let me think

if you had a 45 gal uk tank then you would loose 8 gallons if you took it to america. itsa about 15% of the tank size just gone... tho if you think about it the tank is still the same size no mater what you measure it with. one of the other things that really surprised me (being some one who likes a bit of diferentiation now and then) was the different volumes due to changes in heights maxima and mimima are all over the place. umm i think i need some sleep and a break form thease assignments
