First of all, I inherited this fish from a previous owner so I’m not even sure of the exact type, I believe a catfish of some description. If anyone knew the exact species I would appreciate it

Secondly, it seem that it has some sort of loose pink sac on its belly, I researched online and some other people with slightly similar problem say a prolapse or a hernia, problem is it is really a very loose sac, it moves around freely when the fish moves.

Anyone any ideas to help? And if you know what it is what I can do to help the fish.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's a male Hoplosternum thoracatum. A peaceful catfish that grows to about 5-6 inches and builds a bubblenest. The males have the orange edge to the pectoral (side) fins.

The orange thing under its belly looks like art of the intestine that is sticking out its butt. There's no cure and sometimes it goes back in by itself, other times the fish dies. Feeding the fish a varied diet consisting of dry, frozen and live foods tends to be the best way to treat and prevent this problem occurring.
