Yesterday my mollies were fine. Due to hurricane Isabel power was out for about 18 hours and temp got down to 68 degees. Today one died and the other two adult mollies are very inactive and kinda just "sitting" on the bottom of the tank. About 22 fry are all OK.

Is is possible that the lower temp killed the one molly and put stress on the other two without affecting the fry? Again, the fry all seem very active and fine.

hi bookseller,
Condolences on your loss. I'm unsure about mollies as far as water temp being the culprit, but in coldwater fish, oxygen deprivation will kill larger fish first.

edit: all of my molly tanks are unheated right now since it's summer...run about 70 degrees, so I'm thinking your problem may have had more to do with water conditions or lack of oxygen.
