I use water that been sitting out for 24 hrs. to use in aquariums. Is that still OK? I don't use any water treatment.

IT depends on what your water suplyer adds, if its just clorine which is a gas, its best to airate for 24 to 48 hours, or age it for about a week.

If they add cloramide no you have to add a water condisner

It also depends on the type of fish you have more sensative fish wont tolerate the desoleved metals and polutants the can find there way into your water suply, and a good water condisoner will help detoxifie them

I have a danio that's been doing well with the water and a betta in a different tank that seems to be doing well ( I got him 3 days ago).

I keep alsorts of fish including bette's.and personaly would always recomend using a good quality water condisoner as a matter of couse.

prevension is better than cure

It should be as long as you don't have too many heavy metals in your water. If they are, you will need to use a dechlorinator which also toxifies heavy metals.

No, it DEtoxifies heavy metals.

Most water companies now also add chloramines to the water which are very toxic to fish and can ONLY be removed with a water conditioner. Leaving the water to stand does not affect chloromines.

A danio? which species of danio; I'm guessing Zebra danio rerio
just one? are you aware that they are a schooling
fish and need to be in groups of at least 5?
are you aware that they are a very active fish and
a 2ft long tank is the recomended minimum required for them?

Keeping one danio on his/her own will result in a very aggresive fish and most likely a fish that will kill all other tank mates.

Wolf I strongly agree with my experience of danio's this is NOT ignorable you need to either get rid of the danio(give it back to the fish stroe) or buy more (that is assuming that you have a 2ft tank

sorry quoteing thing didn't work
