i was browsing cragslist pet today (bc i do that sometimes) and i found this: https://albany.craigslist.org/pet/d/amsterdam-betta-fish-with-tanks/7294856600.htm

it has 3 male bettas in 2 gallon tanks each that are over crouded (imo) is it bad? i thought it was bad, but they have live plants (moss balls) and filters, which is good, but they have plastic decor, one has the sharp plastic mabel kind of substate, the tanks are under the minmum, its like they went by petco care sheet.

is it worth resucing? i have a ten gallon. im sure my younger cousins would like a fish, and my friend might want one. i would give them the right care. and if they dident want one i'd be fine with keeping them all.

what do you think. is it so bad? should i get them

hi if its you listing :)

note: this is not in the state i live, but near by.

Hmmm the link won’t load for me. If you wanted to, and feel like you could provide a better set up, go for it!

The link is gone. However, from your description, it doesn't sound ideal.

I personally don't believe in "rescuing" fish. For one thing, "rescuing" a fish from Walmart or wherever just encourages them to stock more of the same and perpetuates the problem. For another thing, while it is always good to help people in need, it's a bad idea (in fish keeping and in life in general) to take someone else's bad decision and make it my problem. There is no end to bad decisions out there. I keep plenty busy dealing with my own bad decisions; no need to go looking for trouble.

here is some pics form the listing....

Terrible - Plastic plants, large-stoned gravel, and small tanks.

The link is broken. My guess is that the sale has ended, or it was incorrect copied & pasted.

this is what they said:
I have 3 male betta's I'm looking to re-home. They are each in there own 2.5 gallon established tank. I have 1 red veil tail, 1 Black orchid, and 1 blueish yellow halfmoon (this one has had problems with tail nipping and has been medicated and doing better, his tail is growing back nicely.)
I'm as $20 per fish with tank. Each tank has a filter, heater and decorations. Feel free to text if interested.

I saw a nearly identical ad for $15 each tank, when I searched in the area the link said, and it had the same photos, plus a few extras. I think there must be two listings for the same thing! If you do it, might as well save $15 and go with the cheaper listing haha

But better than a vase! Gotta give them credit for at least buying filtered tanks, and any kind of plants for the bettas to have shelter. and 2.5 gallons is pretty nice, not sufficient long term, but soooo much more space than a 1 gallon bowl
