I was thinking about these fish for the stocking of my 12 gal nano when it has cycled fully...not including clean up crew:

2 bangaii cardinals
2 perc/occelaris clowns

or

2 perc/occelaris clowns
1 firefish goby

Will i need holes for the firefish to go into or not? also ive read on different internet stes firefish's cannot be kept with hermits and also ive read they can be kept with all members of the clean up crew, which is correct?

which would be the best option? If these are both overstocking could you recomend any other fish but i really would like 2 clownfish

i dont fell comfortable putting clownfish in a tank this small, but if you really have to (and since 12 gallons are so small and every serious fish keeper will come down with US (upgrading syndrome) hopefully they wont spend too much time in a tank that small. But i wouldnt keep all 3-4 fish in there.

i would just stick to gobies. Many people do have clownfish in there 10-12 gallon tanks and the clownfish are active, healthy, eating, perfectly normal, but IMO i dont think it big enough for them. This is my opinion.

stick to 2 fish, theres some pretty cool gobies that would be fine in there, ive recently seen a full grown ocelllaris and percula clown will never think of putting them in a small tank again

yup thats the same reason why i dont feel comfortable doing it.
