can i keep red cherry shrimps that are only about 1 cam long in my aquarium with a power filter? will the shrimps be suck into the filter as they are so small???

I keep cherries with an internal Jewel (medium) and an external Fluval 305 and i don't seem to loose shrimp. My suction pipe sits around 10 cm's from there habitat and they seem fine. I always check the filter when it’s emptied (every couple of months) and have never found anything inside.
