yes it is real, it is a Pangasianodon gigas Mekong giant catfish
currently the record holder for the largest (by weight) freshwater fish
they can reach in excess of 350 kg

They are a monsterous sized fish, that fish was going to be released but died before it was. It was then cooked and the local village ate it. As most large fish in the mekong, as many other places in the world, they become food fish

yeah thats a real picture. They have caught these Mekong catfish close to 9 feet in length before.
