Tap water your talking about , rare , don't think so , sounds almost good enough to drink .
I've never tested for ammonia or nitrite and think they would not be present in my tape water , but if nitrate can sometimes be present :dunno: , who knows ?

Did you test for chlorine or chloramine ? These are things tap water would most likely contain , along with other things that can be harmful .

near to or neutral PH in tap is , I think normal in most parts of the world .

No that is normal for treated tap water. It may have some nitrates in it, but nothing at dangerous levels. It will have chlorine etc which will have to be removed before using in a fish tank (by using Aquasafe etc).

That does not mean, however, that you can just bung some fish straight in. It is not the same as having a cycled fish tank.

You're going to need to get a nitrate tester when you add fish to your tank. A buildup of nitrates can be just as deadly as a buildup of nitrites.
