A while ago I put some plants into another tank to grow them and everything has been going "ok" - a few snails etc but nothing i was worried about... till tonight.

Can anyone tell me what this is that is inside the tank? its like an insect, a bit over an inch long and about 4mm thick..., but am very very curious as to what it is...

wel if i never seen something so weird.. time to go killing i suppose.

sadly puddles that the local miscreants play in is the closest to a pond and being that they used to dare each other to drink the gutter water, i wouldnt chance it.

thanks all to the prompt response.

What about your empty 20g?

Or even just a large plastic tub of water. Pop it outside the backdoor and it should hopefully be ok in there and fly off on it's own.

just catch it put it in a small tank or something or a pond and watch it grow its fascinating my lfs gets them on his plants after a few days it crawls out onto the overflow downpipe hardens up and then it breaks free and a damsel fly emerges has a quick fly around the shop and then out the door fantastic to watch mate but they do eat small fish when they are like the size and state you have got mate

just done some googling, i believe t to be damselfly larvae due to the leg structure that was found. quite amazed to learn the life cycle is one to 2 years

There's loads of damselflies and dragonflies around our pond* (lol) atm.Really cool to watch.
