10 gallon US tank. Using a full plastic hood which was given to me. My question has to do with the fact that there is no barrier between the open water and the light bulbs above it. Picture of the tank with the hood on:

Is this a common set-up, or is there something I can do to make sure that the hood does not fall into the water? I am aware of a glass canopy for sale here. Should I get this and place my hood on top of it? Or are there other hoods I can upgrade to that are safer?
