Hello! I got one of these water onions from a pack, and i think they are actually zephyr lilies?
If so, are they able to do good long term half-submerged and turn into more? the bulb and most of the leaves is underwater but like a quarter of it is growing out of the tank.

Dwarf Onion Plant AKA Autumn Zephyr Rain Lily (Zephyranthes candida), Bulb Plant

They are shallow water plants. If you leave the part growing out of water go, It might make it.

thank you, I 'll move it to the back part of the scape then,.
Do you think they will multiply under water?

The emerging part will have to grow a lot, most of the time the water level is a little above the onion.

You could also hang it in a basket to bring it up closer to the surface and leave the roots hanging in the water.

okay, that sounds good. Would it be okay out of the water in dry soil or will it have to be in water partially?

Yes, it will grow with bright, indirect light and moderate temperatures. It prefers somewhat evenly moist soil and moderate humidity. Water the plant regularly, but allow the soil to dry out slightly between watering.
