looks like it's getting a infection, firstly do a 20-25% water change and get some myaxazin or similar (malicate based) i would say.

Dont use salt as pleco don't tolerate it much.

Then 24-48 hours after treating do a nother large water change and treat again if it's looking any worse.

Do several more water changes over then next 2 weeks as that should help.

im really worried only had them a week and there a wild pair . and i wont be able to get them again.

has there been any arguments over caves?

I see this when the males have been trying to trap each other in caves or after s male has had to be a bit more forceful to keep a female in a cave - Its caused by jamming themselves against the side of caves etc...

Shouldn't be anything to worry about...

I'll be inclined to give them a half dose to see if it clears up, but well worth doing the water changes still.

yes got to have a look at them today as was removing fish!

the other one doesnt seem to have it and the one that does seems to be looking better.
havent added any meds

sshould i???

thanks again

As I said - I wouldn't - I've seen it lots with our plecs and would actually go so far as to say that its normal in feisty plecs... :)

I would go with Russ on this one too, My calico males occasionally have this, infact worse at times. I have found that like said above my 2 males have been falling out over caves. In my case it has cleared up on it's own over a few days, without medication.

Just my 2 pence worth and from my own personal experience
