iv got a new peacock eel and he does the strangest thing. when i feed him he will take down a piece of earthworm ( i feed him chopped redwigglers) and then proceeds to go to the top of the tank as it looks like he is almost done chewing and ready to swallow and will press his nose up against the top glass and rather violently try to get out, as though that will help him eat or something. isnt that weird? is this typical behavior or could it be a sign something might be wrong? he only does this at meal time so im not lead to believe that the water conditions are bad and he is trying to find a better place to live. what could this be?

I've never seen anything like that before in my spiny eels. If he is okay besides this, I would say it is no big deal.

hmmm i hadnt thought of that, but i wouldnt think its cause he wants more food since he starts doing this from the first piece and there is more earthworm right there on the bottom waiting for him. he does seem to be fine other than this. my only thoughts are along the lines of the pieces are too big around in diameter for him to easily swallow and he's choking. i could try feeding him other things and see how that works out. or maybe some sand goes down with the worm and he doesnt like to ingest that. sometimes he'll nip pretty viciously at the worm and knock silt into the water. any other thought?
