I'm looking into getting another Betta.... Would this tank be OK for him to live in?
Also, it has a divider, do you think its better for just one Betta? Or can two live in it?

Betta Tank?

Thanks lots!

Perfect for a betta and yes, you can split it in two and put another betta in there. 2.5 gallons is great for them. :) Just make sure the divider is colored or something do they can't see each other all the time.

The divider isn't colored, its clear with slits so the water can go though... Why can't they see each other all the time? If I put male and female would that be better?

Thanks!

the problem with the clear divider, is that the bettas could then see each other all the time. with some bettas, this can really stress them out. you can prevent that by putting plants along the divider on both sides, maybe leave one area uncovered so they can see each other occasionally to flare, but can still have "alone time" when they need it.

Good idea, plants would look nice along there too...

Thanks!

You can also use aquarium sealant and glue gravel to both sides of the divider to seal off view..I've seen a few done this way and I thought it look right nifty.

One thing to be wary of with one of these tanks is the current that the filter will kick off. I just put my betta into a 5 gallon filtered from a 2.5 G tank and he's having all sorts of problems. He ate his tail off because he was so stressed, and now he's got ick and popeye because of the stress of the current and new environment.

Some bettas, however, LOVE it. And it's a fabulous home for a betta - lots of space, very nice. Just consider the issue(s) the current could cause.

Kara, just wondering about the picture in your signature line.....

is that a betta bowl you are using right now? It looks beautiful and quite roomy. I doubt I'm very popular around here as I just lost my only betta recently after having him for 4 years and I had him in a half gallon bowl....but he was only sick once in all that time.

Just curious as to that bowl type in the picture...it looks really nice. :)

Yes, currently my Wal-Mart rescue Betta is in a large bowl with plants until I get him a new tank, which will be tonight cause I am leaving for PetCo now. ;)
I just love that picture too, it's calming. :D
