Is This An Ok Deal?

Hi

I have been offered the following:

red sea salt coral pro 30kg + medic turbo flotor sl 1000 with aqua medic or2500lph pump

he wants £90 for both inc delivery

Is this a good reccommended skimmer? He has had it for a year.

Have heard of that skimmer but not too sure on how good or bad they are!

You could try and google it and see if there are any customer reviews.

Is the reef salt a brand new tub cus the 25kg pro reef salt tubs are usually around the £50 mark at lfs i think!

tbh imo £90 seems fair with the p+p if it is a brand new tub of pro reef salt and comes with a 2nd hand skimmer. If it is a naff one at least you've got a backup or could use for a possible QT tank!

He said he had 2 tubs of the coral pro salt but put them together in a bucket and mixed them together but only used part of it. It just seems so cheap thats why it worries me a little. If I pay on paypal Im not covered as it is through AC

well only like 50 miles so local ish but i dont drive so it has to be posted. Its difficult to make a decision, but then again a lot of people use AC and its fine

Just dont pay thorugh paypal as a gift, then you are covered. That seems an okay deal for the 2 posted. I have seen that skimmer mentioned a few times and seems to be okay but I cant confirm that with no previous experience.

Its a good skimmer if you have a sump, but it has been around for a long time, so how old is it?

Also, how old is the salt, just check it is not one solid lump!

As James said, as long as you pay through Paypal 'goods' you will get your money back if its a con. Fishy just had to go through this process and got his money back quite fast

Great thanks for the help guys! He said that he had the skimmer for a year I did ask if it was new but he didn't answer that in the next email. I ask quite a few Qs so he prob forgot!
I will ask about the salt aswell.
I will tell him I will pay through goods on paypal. THe last person I said on AC I would rather pay that way told me I had to work out the amount paypal would take in fees and add that on top!!! I avoided them lol

Ask him again, people are very good at forgetting things they dont want you to know, ask him if he bought it new or secondhand

Sent an email so waiting for a response.
Also been offered another RO unit for £50 he doesnt know the make but he just tested it and its reading 0tds after he added more di resin. Sound a hood bloke, and offered me a refractometer for £15. This is a different guy to above. This guy also has the same skimmer as I was offered with the salt but the pump needs new parts and isn't as cheap!
Gotta make some decisions!

If the unit is running at 0 TDS that it sounds good to me, however, think I would like to see that test result for myself, is he close to you?

And what make is the refractor?

He isn't close but he is a very reliable guy on a forum. He has tons of posts and there is a feedback similar to ebay. It is a 5 stage unit.

HE replied, salt is loose, skimmer was brand new a year ago and so was the pump!
Should be ok! I hope
In the meantime have paid for the ro unit and refractor

Getting a bit excited now as things seem to be coming together!! yay!
