I brought a few Kilo of choice shape LR last night for my re-scaping this weekend...

After adding the LR to my tank this little fellow popped up...

i think there is another 2 tiny ones on the rock close to him...

can anyone confirm it's a majano?...

Also i'm going to have to inject him to get rid if he is... Any idea's where i can get a syringe and needle in the UK without people thinking i'm a junkie!?...

i have a few tiny Aiptasia too and am planning on getting rid if these during the re-scaping.... but they are tiny... can i just shoot Joe's at them while the rock is out of tank?... i think they will be too small to get a needle in!...

can't say what that is but if you buy joe's juice it should come with a little syringe and needle thing to do injecting.

otherwise maybe ask your local vet

upon further inspection it looks more like a rather large Aiptasia!...

Does anyone know where i can pick up a hypodermic needle from to inject it!?..

I was donated some Joes but have no way of administering it!.... oh and i'm in the UK

Although by far the best way IME, actually injecting the Aiptasia with a hypodermic syringe full of JJ's isnt 100% necessary. You can use a normal syringe (with no needle) to pour the JJ's over the mouth of the Aip. :good: If not, try an understanding Chemists store, LOL.

ask your local vets, firstly there's at least some chance of them understanding why you need it, and secondly it looks a lot less dodgy than going the chemists asking for one!!

Finally an answer regarding the administration of the JJ... :good:

this method would be easy because i have syringes i use for feeding dosing etc...

but my only worry regarding this is obviously there will be some JJ that leaks into the water... will this harm any of my coral or livestock?...

i am a bit hesitant as i don't wan't to hurt anything...

it can affect your pH, first time we did it our mushrooms all shrivelled up.

second time we did it we prepared enough SW for a water change, did it then immediately started the water change to get the levels back to normal

Hilarious! The lady at the $2 store today couldnt understand why I wanted a container to ship LIVE coral. She htought they were all rocks.

Dont be worried, with a single one, you have nothing to worry about. The extra JJ's will actually float off and disintegrate in the water column. You will get the hang of it. Just take it easy, and slowly pour it over the mouth! :D

Agreed, I wouldnt be concerned with just one aiptasia and a new tank. Just a tip, if you cant locate a needle and need to squirt on top of the nem, turn off your pumps and let the water settle for 5 mins. Then inject and turn the pumps back on a few seconds later.

If your not too worried about your scaping you could take the whole rock out and put it into a separate container with some saltwater and do the deed in there. Thats what I do.

I went to my local chemist for a hypo and syringe and took the bottle of JJ with me so they could see I wasn't a junkie. It only cost pennies too :good:
