I'm having a hard time identifying my african cichlids. I've done some research on the internet but haven't been able to find a pic of the one I have. When I bought them the tank at the LFS only said "african cichlids".

It is a solid bright yellow color. No other colors on it except a hint of white on the edges of the fins. I have seen pics of yellow labs and it looks just like it but without the black stripes.

My other one is a very light cobalt blue color with very light black vertical stripes on the body.

Sorry I can't post pics right now. My digital camera isn't working right.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. Mine looks just like the one in the pics but without any black. According to the article, maybe it's a female???

Although they are not as common there are strains of Labidochromis Caeruleus that have no black on the fins.

Browse the internet and take a look at pictures. Pay more attention to the body shape, as this is one of the most important parts of identifying mbuna. Labidochromis have a unique shape compared to Maylandia, Pseudotropheus, and the other mbuna varieties.
