Hi,
I’ve just noticed this on both of my rams gills. By phantom tetra also has something similar towards its tail that looks like a pimple. I just wondered if these are flukes? The female ram doesn’t seem to have it anymore and the tetra just has a lump without a white part sticking out. The rams are the newest fish to be added (31 Oct) and apart from this the fish all seem happy and healthy. No one is behaving any different.
Thanks for your help

The white worm like thing that is at the back of its gill. The female had one which is now not there and the male had 2, but now has the one. I have circled it in this photo

Someone else had this last week - it looks like anchor worms to me. I've seen it in the disease books, but never live, and I haven't treated it. Ideally, it needs specialized meds. You'd have a hard time getting them.

I assume one of the fish farms or wholesalers must have it. Parasites often flare up in the hobby like that. Where in the (general) world is Armidale?

It's a quandary. You may have to use salt, but the species you have really don't like that. I see no other option. Go online and look up images, to confirm. You have whatever there to see it, and we can only offer educated guesses.
