Right folks I cant seem to get hold of an affordable Deltec skimmer here in Ireland and was wondering if this is any use
I'd be using it on a tank 4foot X2 foot X 2Foot
in size with a 90litre custom built sump

RED SEA BERLIN CLASSIC VENTURI PROTEIN SKIMMER

I got one... Not overly impressed with this model to be honest. You need an incredibly high flow rate through it to get the venturi to work correctly. On the plus side however, it can be used along with Ozone which is why its used on my system. I also have the Deltec MCE600 which i feel is a far superior Skimmer

Yes I'd like a Deltec but just cant afford it ATM

Then if you have a pump powerful enough to create the flow needed to make the venturi work then the skimmer is ok. I used to use an Ocean Runner 3500 but even this was not fully up to the job. I now use a huge pond pump and this only now creates a slow flow through the system.
You must keep in mind however that i have to push the water greater distances than most other tanks due to the size of the system so the extra power does come in handy.
