That's whats sold here as croaking here but there are quite a few similar fish and have seen some up to 3"+

It could be either Trichopsis schalleri or Trichopsis vittata. I think the latter, and that is certainly what is normally traded as "croaking gourami", but take a look at the Fishbase pictures of T. schalleri before ruling that option out completely. Trichopsis vittata normally has a black blotch above the pectoral fins, which I can't see on your fish, hence the possibility it is the otherwise similar Trichopsis schalleri.

Either way, they're pretty similar in terms of size, behaviour, requirements, etc.

I have 3 of those, I think they are all males, they I tried for a trio. They were actually sold as speckled gouramis for some reason (that name doesn't even come up when you google it!). They are what is commonly called croaking gouramis. The other ones, (I have 3 of them also... I think 2m, 1fm) Pumila, are only 1" long full grown, and are known as sparkling gouramis. They look very similar, have similar requirements. Only the Pumila are smaller. My croaking gouramis are about 3" long.
I love them all.... very cute, personable. And you'll love the noise they make, which can be heard from 6-8 feet away sometimes!
