Hello

My tap water is hard and has high nitrates :(

ph: 7.4-7.8
nitrates: 20-40ppm (but my test kit isn't really clear)

Is there any hope i can breed cories?

When breeding your meant to do regular water changes...but whats the point if the water being added has high nitrates?

I really wanna do some sort of breeding especially cories. At the moment i would like to try Corydoras paleatus

Thanks

Same water as mine and my paleatus spawn regularly. Haven't had any fry off them though, but that's because they keep eating the eggs.

I also don't think that breeding in your conditions is impossible. I've heard that dropping the temperature by a few degrees can trick the corys into thinking it's breeding season.

Thanks everyone, you've given me some hope.

Yes i have heard this from Studz. He also advised that doing a water change with cooler water and splashing it about also triggered spawning.

Has anyone else got the same water as me?

i have hard water and very alkaline (around eight) and my cories have spawned before.
