Hello to all,
My wife and I are having a hard time agreeing with the substrate method.
We have a 75gal which will be planted and have CO2 injection. We are using
natural river gravel and Seachem Flourite. I want to layer on top of the UGF with
gravel, then flourite, then final layer of gravel. My wife likes the idea of mixing
the gravel anf flourite together. Is there a wrong way of doing this or should I
say a better or more efficient way? Also, what should be the average depth of
the gravel be?
Thanks
Greg and Tam

i have an UGF and i have an inch in the front and about 1.5 to 2 inches in the back to give it some depth and it gives more plants a base to start in

It doesn't make much difference in the end. My planted tank has the flourite on the bottom and a finer gravel on top, for aesthetic purposes. The plant roots will find the flourite no matter where you put it.
