i have a 60l tank ,with 3 platys 4 neons ,and 5 zebras ,3 corys, i was thinking of geting a rainbow shark tmorow ,a small one 2 cm long. would it be okay with the other fish, somebody told me they had 1 for years in a community tank ,and it never bothered any other fish, but i really need to be sure,if any 1 can help with the answer id appreciate it :

60L is far too small, they need quite a big tank. Most people say around 250 litres minimum.

+1

Also, your priority should be to sort out your current stocking. Neons, zebra danios and Corys are all schooling fish.

Instead of getting a rainbow shark (I agree with KittyKat; 60l is far too small), why don't you switch to a sand substrate and get two or three more corys?

That would leave you pretty much fully stocked, but would work much better for you, IMO, and I think you'll enjoy the cories much more when they're 'happier' (as far as we can tell).

If you make sure the platies don't breed too much and you do plenty of regular water changes, I reckon you could get away with two or three more neons as well.

what do u mean sort the fish out i have, thay are all fine.i got my water tested at the shop today ,they said it was nearly perfect.i dont understand what you mean ,could u rephrase that please

you mean change the gravel to substrate right?.. im gona go with what you say. i have 4 neons and they are my favoutite, i think ill get 5 neons, and another 2 cory, what cory do u suggest,i have 2 pepperd cory,1 albino cory. the albino cory is mad ,it swims around so fast ,whilst the other 2 just laze about then search the bottom, what do u suggest.thanks for advice

KittyKat meant, more or less, what I've said; that your fish are shoalers and you haven't really got enough of each species :)

Yes, I meant change the gravel and put well washed sand in; the cories will be much happier rooting around in it :good:

I'd get the peppered as they don't grow quite so big as the albinos. Is there any chance you could take that albino back? He'd like to be with more albinos really, but I think your tank might be a bit small?

I'll leave that to your judgement; If you think that might be too much, then go for the pepperds; more of any species is better than nothing, even pepperds might calm him down a bit.

tahnks, i noticed my pepperd cory were a bit smaler, as for the albino, the shop wont take any fish, i must say ive only had the albino cory for a week, but he is a 100 % more calmer than the first days,he was crazy the first day,he looks a lot more settld.i dont know whether to get another albino to keep him company, im getting 4 or 5 neons, i m giving my 5 zebra fish away, any ideas what i could replace the 5 zebrs with.

Get more neons; you've already said they're your favourite, and the more you have, the lovelier they are; it's true of nearly every fish I can think of (well, apart from plecs and bettas) :)

I thinkkyou've made a wise deciscion about the zebras; I know they're small, but they do need a lot of room; they're like little torpedos, lol.

Shame about the ablino cory, but even he'll be better with more cories of any species than he is now :good:
