Is My Toadstool Shedding?

My toadstool which I only got last week has only displayed its polyps on the first day I BOUGHT IT.

I came home from work today and the skin was all shiny as if a snail slime was all over it, now a couple of hours later some polyps have come back out but there is a mucus film coming off the toadstool

Is this a shed or something else to worry about?

my leather did it every so often, and when it had shed it used to look doubley as lovely

I think its a leather, isn't that another name for toadstool coral? I;m hoping its positive news seeing as the polyps have come out for first time in a week

not as far as i know.. but then what do i know
bet it will look fab in a few days.. if it was a toady i think id be more worried than if it is a leather.. have you got a pic to make sure?

Its not always baldy loads of polyps come out and it looks lovely when it does

maybe its a sulky one

i had 2, one of which never ever fully "opened" the other one would bask in the flow of the power head etc,
also a sulphur that i had ( which looked like that) was really annoyed when the heater broke on the tank, never did recover, but it wasnt even obvious till i went to lift it out of the tank after selling the stock, then it literally just fell apart try it in diff parts of the tank? mine were happy at the higher levels

Leather will sulk on adding them to a tank mine also sulks once every couple of weeks I think its part of the growing process as it sheds its old skin.

I;m doing a total rescape tonight and breaking the rocks up so will tr yand get him higher up and central cos I love these corals

well all the mucusey shed has just come off now so we shall see what happens polyp wise today. I hope it settles and displays its full worth as I love these and I want him to be the focal points

I would not put it to high in the tank as these grow quite fast and you will soon be moving it down

what fish is that in your avatar Morri is it a Blenny?

My leather toad sulked and went a bit limp when I added it, it now looks like

the crown is 8inches wide at least.

Morri's pic looks like a lawn mower blenny, lovely fish that's full of charm. Mine sleeps in the leather at night
