Fat or constipated its a male with the red on the nose and red line on the dorsal fin and bright red ventral fins, females have a pale nose. Try feeding him some de-shelled crushed peas.

I agree with star! Definitely a very fat male! As star says, females don't have such a red nose, and they have almost no red in their dorsal fin

Fat tiger barbs aren't uncommon; they are terribly greedy fish! Mine beg for food like they're starving anytime anyone goes anywhere near the tank.
