Here is a pic of my tank. It is 34 litres and measures 38 by 30 by 33. It has an internal filter, and as you can see it has a coloured gravel substrate.

At present it houses 3 platys, and isn't fully cycled. When it is cycled, one of the options I'm considering is a group of 4 pygmy corydoras. I saw them on the fish species index on here and I think they are adorable. But I'm worried that my tank may not be suitable, especially because of the substrate.

Any experts care to give me an opinion? If the tank isn't suitable then I'll go with another choice.

Lovely tank!

I am not a dwarf Cory expert. I do not want to give advice on this subject. Although I have to say that a cloud of dwarfs is quite astounding.

I did not want to watch your thread drift to the bottom unanswered. Sometimes if someone answers that will get others to stop in and then they will offer what they know or believe.

This is true, though, the dwarfs do spend most of their time mid level. It may be that the gravel won't hurt them if you keep it vac'ed. The dwarfs are a little sensitive. Like most small species of fish, they are vulnerable in competition for food and because they fit in other fish's mouths, also in water quality.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think they would need to worry about being eaten, the tank is very small and there probably won't be anything bigger than platys in there!

I know that all corys need an established tank, so I won't get them yet, but I like to plan ahead!
