Hi all,
Can you please tell me if you think my tank is overstocked?

It's a juwel vision 180. With sand and heavily planted with bogwood and lots of caves.

I have in there:
2 angels
2 Bolivian rams
2 cockatoo cichlids
1 electric blue balloon ram
1 dwarf gourami
1 honey gourami
3 guppies
4 rummynose tetras
6 corys
2 bristle nose plecos

I was hoping to move the gouramis and guppies out but it means put my Siamese fighter in a smaller tank do they can have his :(

Thanks

Not overstocked, depending on size of each fish. However your Angels and Bristle Nose's will become to big for a 180.

Thankyou :)

What size tank would my angels and BN's need? I was under the impression 180 was ok or I wouldn't have got them :(

I'm no expert but I would say a bristle nose or 2 should be absolutely fine in your tank. They only get to around 6 inches.

That was the reason I went for them as I was under the impression they were smaller than a lot of Plecos.....

Sounds a very busy cichlid tank to me for a 180l, which will make it less friendly for innocent bottom dwellers like Corydoras...

I would choose one pair of of your proposed three Ram/Apisto species.
Just 2 Angelfish that aren't a bonded pair is risky, better to start with six and then rehome the unbonded ones.
Two gourami is risking a bullying situation.
Rummynose Tetra and Corydoras will do much better in groups bigger than 6 (I personally try and always buy at least 10 of any social fish), C. sterbai would fit well with your general plans for tropical temp fish ~25C.
I'd dump the BN catfish to allow more bioload for the social fish above, plus they originate from swift flowing waters that are often cooler than 25C. Not to mention adult upto 15cm specimens are chunky poop machines!

Oooh that's great! Thanks for the fab advice!

The BN's are already poop machines at 4 inches lol!

I don't think this is true. Both should be fine, angels are not fast movers therefore don't need very long tanks, and it should be high enough for them, BNs would be fine in much smaller tanks than this.

Well as I did say that "depending on size of each fish". I would not personally have Angle's in a 180 as there is not enough to explore, not enough room and they ideally need much more space to be 100% happy. Yes sure go for it if you want to, yes of course it wont be much harm, but I do not "personally" think it's right nor would I advise it. As for BN's I have bred these, sold them and been housing them for around 8 years now, and I would yet again possibly keep them in a 180 or a bit smaller, but after a certain size, either put them in a bigger cage or take them to a LFS or pass on to someone with bigger tank. I can pretty much go sleep in my 450 when empty, enough room, but not quite comfortable. So I feel my statement is true based on facts and practice, but yes it can be worked around, or tried to see if it works. Thats the best practice, trial and error.

Absolutely nothing wrong with a BN or 2 in a 180. I had 2 in exactly the same tank and there was plenty of room for them :) they are one of the smaller plecs so will be fine. Cant quite remember off the top of my head how tall vision 180's are but I think a single angel would be ok. I personally wouldn't have 2. They are better as singles or groups of around 6 but the tanks too small for that
