ok i was thinking of using it as a sump but now i just remembed that about 8 months ago i had a snail problem so i have used snail control chemicals  i have one assassin snail who i think he is ok. so would it be ok for marine use?

id have thought so, if your worried. give it a real good scrub and soak. then when yor fitting the baffles. run a bead of silicine over the old stuff

ok thanks ben :good: the tank is only 95L so i might build one bigger anyway. also if i was going to build one how thick should the glass be?

I would have thought thickness wasn't too important. After all it'll have water on both sides. Not just the one exerting pressure.

Having said that I like to play safe, so I'd prob get glass the same thickness as the tank...

I'd you're on about for the actual sump building from scratch... It'll depend on the exact size and height.

i mean the thickness of the glass that i should use for making a sump inc baffles :good:

Baffles I wouldn't worry too much. The rest... How big are you thinking? How many gallons? That'll be the deciding factor.

Dependant on depth etc but 8 - 10mm is best in my expeience might be worth getting a quote to get one made mine was quite cheap and saves all the messing about

ok first question would a 95L (25 gallon) tank be ok for a sump on a 420L (112 gallon) tank?
second question if it wasnt what would be a better size? so would 3 foot by 1.5 foot by 1.5 foot be a good size?

It all depends on what equipment you want in there if you want a refeguim, DSB or MM in there also how much room you have in the cabinet to put the sump in.

id aim for something a bit bigger than 95L harry. with the amount of flow you would need it would be noisey and cramped with the larger equipment you need.

for a 4x2x2 id probably want a 36x18x 15 or similar.

so would my tank i have atm be ok? its 80 by 35 by 50 cm
