well, I have a 46 gallon tank with a jack dempsey, parrot fish, gold panchax, clown pleco, spotted raphael cat, 1 lemon tetra, 1 odessa barb, and just recently 3 debauwi cats.
over the past month or so I’ve gotten 3 lemon tetras and 3 odessa barbs and now I have one of each. I also lost a honey gourami to a similar problem. what happens is the fish get patches of like white-ish discolored skin almost like a snake that is getting ready to shed and they would eventually die. I treat the tank monthly with coppersafe as a preventative for ich and velvet plus it doesn’t look like any fungus I have ever seen in my life. I asked my boss today(I work at a pet store) and she said that it could be the clown pleco sucking the slime off of the other fish. is this true? how can I stop it? how can I prevent it in any way?
it never happens to the jack dempsey, parrot, killie OR clown pleco. the clown pleco has also been in the same tank as the jack parrot and killie longer than the barbs and tetras so that could be another reason why the larger fish don’t have the problem.

so what are your opinions?

oh two more things: I got the spotted raph recently and it was perfectly dark and now it is kind of brown and mottled lighter in some areas. it also likes to sit on a tan-cream colored lava rock with a hole in it. is this camouflage or is he too sick/being sucked on by the pleco?

and and and can I safely use salt with the debauwi cats and raphael? im pretty sure its safe with the raph and pleco as they are armored but im not sure about the debauwis and I don’t want to use salt and kill them.

any opinions would be nice, thanks.
