Is My Dalmatian Molly Pregnant?

We picked up a few dalmatian mollies from our local petsmart about a month and a half ago. They were both supposed to be males, but when we brought them home we discovered that we had one male and one female (I am assuming that they make mistakes on stuff like this occasionally). Last week I noticed that the female was getting fat and "blockish" in her belly. I looked online for some information, but discovered that she was nowhere near as big as these pictures of pregnant mollies on the internet. I also can't find the "gravid spot" everyone seems to be talking about (and she is mostly white). I just wanted to get some opinions on whether or not she is pregnant, as I have never had a pregnant fish before and I might just be crazy. She is getting pretty territorial and has forced the male to stay on the other side of the tank, but she doesn't seem to be aggressive toward any of the other fish. I just want to make sure I am prepared if she is going to have fry, because I want to give them a chance to survive. It was hard to get a good photo of her belly, so I just attached the best one I had. I also attached one of her next to the male for belly comparison, as they were the exact same size when we got them. Any advice is appreciated!

Yes i would say she is. Mollie fry are easy to raise so i woildnt worry. Just read up about mollie birthing but when she hides all the tome in the plants thats when she giving birth or at least tjats what mine did.
Also, try not to disrupt the tank too much otherwise she will either abort or will hold the babies.
Good luck with your mollie & her fry!!

The mostly black one also looks to be a female in the first picture u posted.

^ agreed, looks female to me too.

OP, there is a sticky at the top of this forum called 'gender determination in livebearers' which should help you work out if your fish are male or female :good:

Basically, if it doesnt have something hanging off the bottom of it that looks vaguely like a penis, its female! But, if you have both sexes, in the same tank, then yes she's pregnant

acully you have to look at the anal fin, the males will form a gonopodium and the females will be fanned
