Just wondering if my clowns are behaving normal. I understand they swim upside down and all that cute stuff, my fish are very bright in colour, no fading of the black at all. They are eating well. However, i find them in the mornings at the very top of my tank, heads almost out of water. When i turn the light on and such, they go back to swimming and eating and everything else they do. The dont often hide, usually only when sleeping... but it appears they are now sleeping at the top? Anyone else seen this behaviour before?

and to answer a few questions, i have 3 clowns usually only 2 are doing the same thing the 3rd sleeps in a coconut cave. ( i know i should have 6, 3 more will be purchased the next time i travel to a distant fs, i wont buy local as my lfs sucks at life) the current tank is a 40 gallon they will be moved into a much bigger tank when i move into my new house in about 5-6 months, i have a bubble wall that is used daily to keep water oxygenated. all other fish are very healthy, 6 neon tetras, and about 12 guppies and one large common plec. its a planted tank, been running for 6 months prior to the addition of clowns, clowns have been in tank for about 3 months

dont remember precise numbers, but last water test was normal according to test kit.

One clown did show a few white spots, this was treated with ich medicine, all white spots gone for about a month now, and like i said, they are very happy and appear very healthy otherwise...
Thanks

sounds unusual to me. Do you inject co2 into the tank? As this can upset clowns if there is to much of it, mine are always the first to react if the balance isn't quite right.
Try more frequent water changes, see if that helps.
