i was wondering is it worth buying a uv steriliser. nothing is wrong with my tank but could i just use it for filteration and to ptrvent algea in the future.
thanks

not at the moment maybe. unless your tank water needs clearing up. then again it wouldnt do any harm to have one handy.

they kill beneficial stuff too remember, i would think its a great thing to have on hand when you have like an ich outbreak or something similar, but other than that i think its a waste.

if your tnak is fine dont do it, if youve been haveing ich problems it wouldnt hurt

They are relatively inexpensive. I have one on mine. I'll be setting up a quarantine tank in a few weeks so I might attach it to that for new arrivals. Its definitely something to consider for the futurem as is a quarantine tank.

Good point....helps me out a bit.....I definitely would limit it to quaranteen tanks. And, the smaller the tank, the cheaper the UV unit I suppose.
