Hey Guys,

Thinking of the ponds in the garden, Is it tooooo Early to start stocking them.
I am gonna do White clouds and danios this time, as my fry from last year did not survive the frost and snow this time round. did have 6 3" Goldies.

White clouds and danio's probably won't thrive in a pond unless it is very warm, they are sub-tropical fish so temps under 19 degree's are not good for them. What sort of goldfish are you putting into the pond? I would advise probably hanging on for a bit more until the temperatures warm and stabilise more- if the pond is still getting frozen or you are getting frosts every month then its still too cold.

The Clouds would be for the Nano Pond. It Needs Cleaning and Re Planting.

In the back i have a Large Water Butt, that i had Goldies in. I'm thinking of some Bubble Eyes as in the past they have done extremely well and grown to massive 10+" outdoors. The Butts have no hardscapes and just some gravel and a few lillies.

If either of these freeze though at any point during the year they are simply too cold for fancy goldfish and sub-tropical fish like white clouds and danio's. How many gallons is this nano pond and water butt roughly? How long did your previous fish live to in them?

As a general rule, I've always waited until the beginning of March to start re-stocking as then there is less cahnce of frost etc.

yeah, mid-end march will be stocking month.

The Nano is about 5 gallons (used to have a fighter in it last year. and the butts are 200gallons each.
