Hello. My horrible orange algae has now nearly gone thanks to the very successful group of Otos catfish I bought on Saturday. They have big round stomachs now full of algae. There is still some algae stuck in the cracks but the Otos simply cannot get to it. My sculpture is now much better than it was and the pebbles are white again. When I purchased them I also bought a packet of algae wafers. The LFS told me to feed these at night twice a week. My question is When should I feed them? The Otos are swimming about now and are getting restless. I spotted one today on the top of my bubbel tube! I know they like a bit of fresh washed cuecumber every now and then. I was debating feeding a algae wafer tonight. Any idea's? Thanks for any advice. :good:

Yes, I would. At least it's definately there for them. Might take a week or so them for to actually accept it after all that yummy algae!

But yeah, I would definately offer it to them. You will find they will keep the algae at bay aswell so it's all good. :good:

James.

As long as the tank is fully cycled. Then it will be fine. I have put algae wafers in over night only to find my bottom feeder at the time did not touch it, the filter can soon adjust to the extra ammonia from the food.

But I'd be surprised if they did not take it anyway. Try one tonight, two tomorrow night, so on...

If they have eaten your algae so quickly, sounds like you have a good healthy bunch :good:

Thanks. My tank is 9 week cycled so far. I will feed one tonight.
