Hello everyone! Ok so my pregnant platy is in the pregnancy tank and is doing great, but she seems to be showing signs of a parasite. She is twitching and flashing and it's happening more and more consistently. I know that General Cure is a great treatment (it cured my algae eater) but is it safe for the fry when they are born? And it has not been long since the platy was exposed to general cure I used it around 1-2 weeks ago for the algae eater when she was in the main tank. I want to treat her but do not want to cause damage to the fry when they are born. I'm not sure what to do!
@Colin_T ?

Here is a video of her doing it:

Sometimes, fish will act like dogs and scrape off of leaves in a tank to mark their territory. If it is new territory, I'd go with this assumption before worrying about other issues. Fish do this all the time. Sometimes they are doing it to groom their slime coat as well....

I would agree, and I will consider that in future scenarios, but she was doing it (although not as often) in the main tank as well.

This can be the first signs of white spot ( Ich ) . Do the two tanks have identical water and temperature etc.

Fish rubbing on objects in the tank can be caused by poor water quality, chemicals, or external protozoan infections.

You need to provide clear pictures of the fish without blue light so we can see the fish.

After the tank lights go out, shine a torch on the fish and see if they have a gold/ yellow sheen over their body. This is velvet (Oodinium).

Test your water. Do a big water change and gravel clean the substrate.

Ok here are some pictures of the fish. Her skin is fine btw nothing abnormal from what I can see. Will clean the gravel and change the water tommorrow.

(Her tail looks cut off in this one because she was turning as I was taking it)

The only thing I can see on the fish is a white spot at the bottom of the caudal peduncle, (where the tail meets the body). This could be a white spot parasite or dirt on the glass. Check the fish for the white spot.

If it has a white spot, then do a huge (80-90%) water change and gravel clean the substrate. Clean the filter too. Then raise the water temperature to 30C (86F) and keep it there for 2 weeks.
