Is It Really An Oranda?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy at least one Calico Oranda and possibly an all red/orange one too but when I see what are supposed to be/what I'm told are Oranda's in the shops they look (to my untrained eye) just the same as fancy tail/veiltail goldfish. I've been researching online and I know that the wen/hood doesn't grow until a few months old and doesn't mature until the fish is around 18 months to 2 years but I want to buy a fish much younger than that but how can I tell that I am getting the right thing?

Any tips or advice greatly appreciated.

I don't, I haven't actually chosen a particular one, have just been looking around all the lfs and both oranda's and veiltails look the same when they are small. Was just wondering if there was something in particular that I should be looking out for?
