Ok, I thought I knew a little aobut ghostshrimp, but aehm- can they get pregnant on their won! I mean- can they like rats, snails and kangoroos get pregnant when they decide it's best, after being fertilized just once?

I January I put 5 Ghosthsrimp in my Tank, to check out the waterquality, then I got my blue crayfish. When a shrimp molted he'd sometimes catch them. I put my ghostshrimp in a different place, so to not overcrowd the water. I guess the water was to hight because one mornging I found 4 out of my 5 dried up outside around it. anyways! One I kept still in there, she molted. when the one ghosthsrimp I kept with my blue cray passed on, I transferred her in to the Tank back. she molted aobut 4 weeks ago again, and then a 3rd time yesterday. she's gotten pretty big since I got her in January. Today, I look at her and see that she has a bunch of green balls in her tummy, which look a lot like shrimp-eggs. I know for certain that there are no other shrimp in there with her, so technically if she really is pregnant, she must have done it on her own?

any imput?

Unfertilised probably just a sign its happy :good:. What type of ghost shrimp there are several species that come under that alias :)

Uff, the regular- see through one u can get at stores! anything particular I could look out for that would tell you exactly what it is? the only hint I can give you it's the sweetwater type!

ah, then females can produce eggs, which are simply unfertilized then, ok! for some reason I thought they only get them when they have been fertilized. Makes sense!
