While it has moisture and light? I just found some growing in my canister filter. The UV light must be enough to keep it alive.

I bought some off ebay it came in a plastic bag like the ones you get your fish in i didnt end up using it so just left it in the kitchen and still looks like its alive after 3weeks + lol

If poisoned, it is easy to kill. But leave it in your filter (just trim it if it gets a little out of hand) because it will provide a little (I mean a little) extra filtration.

theres no point in leaving it in, the "extra filtration" as you so called it is negligible, you would probably get it wrapped round your impeller and straining your pump..

its great stuff if you can attach it to a rock or piece of bogwood..it will catch stray fish poop and break it down quicker. :good:

It's possible to kill in normal conditions, I've somehow managed it  Plants utilise Ammonia mainly, then NitrAte. Nitrite they leave alone I have been lead to believe by some of out planted tank "nerds" :good:

All the best

to answer your question, yes it is possible to kill it, trust me on that one.

it deff does help filter the water column, then my shrimp have food on the table and the cycle goes on

i killed a bunch i forgot about in a stale cold, dark tank in my basement. the stuff was brown and fell apart like crazy in the water...my new fresh java moss gets me excited because its so green woooooo hoooooooooo

Must be possible, cos mine is dying no matter what I do to keep it alive :(

It must be possible to kill it but I find it very easy to keep alive. I got a handful of it off an ad on E-bay about a year and a half ago and now have it in most of my tanks.
