Is it ok to keep Platies in Coldwater?

Is it ok to keep Platies in coldwater? Because I want to have some in my 5 gallon. There will be coldwater plants and a filter... but there won't be any heater. So is it ok?

Mabye I'll try to sneak a heater in then... lets just hope nobody finds out...

how cold are u talking i bet over 70 would be ok room temp my heater is broke and my tank stays at a constant 78 lol but our basement is heated

I would suggest a 25w heater.

I use the Hagen Thermal Pre-set (25w) on my 5.5g:

Thanks everyone... I'll get a 25w heater just incase the water gets to cold
