My Betta keeps harrasing my platies at feeding time and when I have a certain platy in a breeding trap he keeps displaying to her! He also has decided he doesnt like another one of my platy's so much so that I came home last night to find that she had jumped into my breeding trap with my other platy(who is due to give birth soon any day)

Sometimes bettas do not get along in a community environment. They can attack anything with longer fins or bright colors. Nipping their fins and such. Also, flaring is normal, but all the time can be stressful to the betta. I think perhaps he should be removed and put in his own nice one gallon. And yes bettas jump, through tiny holes and very high. So when you put him in his own one gallon, make sure it's got some sort of a cover.

Some people have successful community tanks with a betta--It depends on the personality of the betta. I tried it twice with two different bettas and it didn't work out so I just gave up. The bettas we buy in the store weren't bred to be in a community, really, so it's not that shocking that it just doesn't work out sometimes.

Now I'm babbling, but anyways, yeah he'll be happy in a one gallon with a plant, no currents, and somewhere where he can get some human interaction--bettas are really people fish.
