well, the tanks are often fun to watch lol. my friend from england also said that the LFS's that you guys have there are way better than the ones we have in canada, or at least my area of canada... i plan on visiting the UK one day, and i think i might spend at least 2 days of my holiday there looking at fish stores... then ill really drool if they are as good as my friend says

Oohhh.... Well, big tanks (for one), and Bettas (not the last time I went, though -- none of them really caught my eye, except one which was maybe a super-delta; well, some kinda delta, for sure), the guppy feeder fry (which are gorgeous -- even at just a few weeks old  ).... Sometimes the tetras, OH and definitely the guppies and the platies, but.... I'm just sucker for my favourite kinds of fish. I could spend forever in Big Al's -- they have a 2000-gallon SHARK TANK at mine. I hardly ever look at it, though; not really a big fan of sharks.... -_- My parents are always dragging me out, though. And I literally mean DRAGGING.

that made me smile haha :)

I dont *think* I drool at an LFS but I have been known to spend a rather large amount of time just looking at the fish, each tank, each individual fish just *in case* I find something a few times over, thinking planning and getting too excited lol

but nothing like your sexy FX5 :p

oh, yeah, the fish, i could watch the fish for hours, i cant wait until i get my liscense and a car, then ill have all the time i want!

a 2000 gallon shark tank amberleaf? i start to drool just THINKING about it, never mind seeing it.

:p Yep; 2 or 3 sharks in it, Idk what type, because I've heard there's different types.... These are just gray.... Well, ANYWAYS. :D I was there buying Mr. Wimpy Fish while they were feeding them, once; I saw them put in this creepy live squid. There are, umms.... Maybe 5 or 6 smaller fish in the tank? Well, ANYWAYS, yeah; there are the sharks and some smaller fish.... :p

Another thing I like about my local Big Al's is the display tanks; they have this HUGE (like, 200 or 300 gallons) marine one; it has all sorts of fishies in it! :hyper: They also have what looks like a HUGELY overstocked freshwater tank (although that's maybe just an optical illusion; all the fish seem to hang out in one particular corner of the tank, but maybe that's just because of the absolutely *HUGE* clump of Java Moss  ), and a small ocean-cube display tank, too. :p

i mean how sexy can a filter be?

I'm a self confessed hardware geek, DIY addict, and basically nosy as to how shops set up their filtration & such. After looking over the selection of fish I somehow "accidentally" wander in back. I've been asked everything from "can I help you?' to "what do you think you're doing?!?". I tell them exactly what I'm doing, and have gotten everything from a little tour to "get outta here!"

Never been thrown out of a shop for getting lost. Yet.

lucky you! i order stuff online from big als, but they dont have any stores near me.

....i have a bit of a reputation in my LFS's. One of mine is a 40min drive so the way I justify the time to myself is to spend an hour (or more) in the shop, I love doing it but its also because Im really indecisive...

oh i can just picture it !!

i sit and stare at the tanks i want but cant afford, let alone make room for!

the lfs i use is 50ish mins away so i spend a while there.

i also sit staring at the marine section, drooling. i am always drawn towards the clowns, i  them

i have also been caught drooling over filters lol

I think we all do it to some degree, my LFS is about 5 mins away and i buy a lot of dry goods from him but my discus seller is about 15/20 mins away.

Doesnt matter what shop i go in i always like to spend a while looking around at the kit and dry gear etc thats on sale.

If i could id schedule a holiday just to go around the country to visit some of the big shops, i spent an hour at wharf last month and i coulda stayed all day (2 hr drive for me lol)

I do it with computers and things too, staying up to date with all the latest developments and things is part of my job and i get the p[leasure of reading websites and such most days to keep up and i often have to take a sneak peak inside pc world or get one of my business suppliers to bring me new toys to play with on a loan lol

My LFS has a couple of planted tanks that i could look at for hours. Also a big arrowana that is fun to watch. And i've spent quite a good deal of time looking at their bettas lately too.
