Is it just me, or are these tanks seriously overstocked and poorly stocked?

And even the good ones tend to not bother match the fish to their water hardness. But then they are often breeders who sell them on, some of them rehome a tank so they film the rescaping and restocking and so on. Rachel O'Leary seems to know her stuff mostly, she does lecture tours for fish clubs too. She says she only started youtube after Joey diy or someone suggested it, previously her online presence was on forums. For all I know this one.
I have heard good things about her!

I like Aquarium CoOp, KGTropicals, PrimeTime Aquatics and Rachel O'Leary.

Too many are by hip young things, trying their hardest to be hip young things, pursuing a dream of being an influencer, with lots of followers and lashings of advertising revenue.
Unfortunately, whilst many have their presentations off pat, few actually know what they're talking about and I'd love to see their set-ups when the cameras are switched off and then switch mine on. Sadly, because they have The Look, they still influence and then it's down to Forums like this one to pick up the pieces.

I have no problem with his tanks, he is moving fish around nothing is stationary so it is fine. Notice the amount of plant he has in all his tanks. This is what a preach lots of plants, it solves almost all of your problems.

Paul Cuffaro is #1. His older videos absolutely disgust me, especially this one:

I guess he’s got a little better, but still. You should read some of the comment on that video... some people know their stuff and call him out on it.
I saw that youtuber. absolutely horrendous. Those poor fish, stuck in that tiny tank.
Paul Cuffaro: 'You guys probably think it's small but petco and petsmart said it's big enough.'

Just remember these fish are moving in and out of these tanks, they are not the fishes permanent homes

It's all about water quality - you can have a heavily stocked tank if you do the work to keep the water quality high. Admittedly, most hobbyists would fail with such a high bio-load, but although it seemed overcrowded in many of those tanks, the fish looked really good and healthy.
My tanks overstocked but I’ve got a larger filter than needed with upgraded media I maintain it regular , lots of air exchange and weekly water changes and tests have live plants and usually run into very few problems

Due for a tank upgrade As soon as I can

I must admit I wouldn’t keep that many overstocked tanks personally though far too much work

Not a big fan of that YouTuber. He joins the long list of “aquarist” YouTubers I I dislike.

Even his YouTube channel name makes me dislike it,
Tazawa Tanks is cool. I'm not sure if he still does, but If I'm not mistaken before starting a YouTube Channel he had his own aquarium maintenance business. His clients were businesses and folks with large aquariums and he would come in and do stuff like setups, partial water changes, filter/tank maintenance, disease diagnosis, etc. (which I presume in some areas can be a pretty good business). Cory McElroy and Dean (Aquarium Coop) went to San Francisco to help him upgrade his fishroom.
So he may not be 'as big' as these Featured YouTuber's, but he's done the work to earn his place in the hobby.

(Edit: Note: I suppose Jon and Lisa [KGTropical's] should have been on the list but at the time I created the list they were doing some play acting satire of the 'dumb fishkeeper' and so I left them off). :)
